I have polycystic kidney disease (PKD), a hereditary disease passed on from my father. In December 2011, my creatinine number indicated that I was in stage four kidney failure. The nephrologist estimated that in 2 years, give or take a six months, I would be on dialysis or need a kidney transplant.
In April 2012, while searching the internet for PKD disease information, I discovered the website for the Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital in China. This hospital offers a treatment for PKD that is not available anywhere else. The treatment includes Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, which reduces and shrinks the cysts, and Stem Cell therapy, which has the possiblity of renewing and regenerating kidney tissue.
Sounds like miracle to me! This treatment offers me knew hope of never having to go on dialysis or have a kidney transplant. Treatment in the US does not offer this hope, so after extensive research, I decided to travel to China for a month’s treatment. I’m leaving on June 15, 2012 and will return on July 14, 2012. I decided to keep a journal of my progress and experiences during the treatment process so several reasons. The main reason is to keep my family and friends informed on a timely basis of details of the treatment and my experiences in China. Also, I hope to provide information for other PKD patients regarding alternative treatments for the disease. Thirdly, it’s a good method for helping me remember all the details!
So come along with me to China on my journey !
